How to create a workspace for your team in Slack?

  1. Go to https://slack.com/get-started#/createnew.
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue, or continue with Apple or Google.
  3. Check your email for a confirmation code.
  4. Enter your code, then click Create a workspace and follow the prompts. Welcome to Slack!
How to join a workspace in slack?
  1. From your desktop, visit slack website.
  2. Enter your email address. Then click Continue.
  3. Check your email for a confirmation code from Slack and enter it.
  4. Below Accept an invitation, click Join next to the workspace that you'd like to join.
How to create a channel in slack?
  • From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  • Select Create a channel.
  • Enter a channel name. If you see the option to choose a channel prefix, you can select one from the drop-down menu. Channel names must be in lowercase, without spaces or full stops, and shorter than 80 characters.
  • Add a description to let others know what the channel is about. 
  •  If you'd like to make the channel private, click on the toggle next to Make private.
  •  When you’re ready, click on Create.
  •  Add people to the channel by typing names to select from the drop-down menu, or click on Skip for now.
Who can create channels in Slack?

By default, the following people can create channels:

  • Public channels: all members of a workspace, but not guests
  • Private channels: all members, including multi-channel guests

Workspace owners can change default permissions to limit who can create channels in their workspace.

How to add people to a channel in slack?
  • Open the channel that you’d like to add people to.
  • Click on the cluster of profile pictures in the top right.
  • Click on Add people.
  • If you’re adding a few people, search for and select the members that you want to add. If you’re adding a large group of people, paste the list of names or email addresses into the field.
  • Once you’ve finished, click on Add.
    How to remove someone from a Slack channel?
    • Open the channel that you want to remove someone from.
    • Click on the cluster of profile pictures in the top right.
    • Find the person that you want to remove and click on their name.
    • Below their profile information, click on Remove from [channel name].
    • Click on Yes, remove them to confirm.
      How to rename a channel in slack?
      • Open the channel that you'd like to rename.
      •  Click on the channel name in the channel header.
      • Click on the Settings tab.
      • Hover over the channel name and click on Edit. 
      • Enter a new name, then click on Save changes. 
        How to add a new snippet in slack?
        • From your desktop, click the  lightning bolt icon to the left of the message field to open the shortcuts menu.
        • Select  Create a text snippet from the menu. 
        • Enter a title if you like, then choose a file type from the drop-down menu.
        • Type or paste your snippet in the Content field.
        • To share your snippet, tick the box next to Share this file, select a conversation and add a message if you like.
        • Click Create snippet.
          How to share a snippet in slack?

          • Hover over a snippet, then click  Share file. 
          • Below Share with, choose a channel or direct message (DM) from the drop-down menu. 
          • Click Share.
            How to deactivate slack account?

            • From your desktop, click on your profile picture in the top right.
            • Select View profile from the menu.
            • Click  More, then select Account settings.
            • Scroll down to Deactivate account, then click Deactivate your account.
            • Enter your password and select Confirm password.
            • Click on Yes, deactivate my account
