Google Pay uses NFC to transmit card information facilitating funds transfer to the retailer. Google Pay substitutes credit or debit card chip and PIN or magnetic stripe transaction at point-of-sale terminals by letting the users upload these in the Google Pay wallet. FAQs
How can I get my money back if the transaction made through Google Pay failed but the amount got deducted from the bank account?
Banks usually take up to 3 business days to add money back to your account. Wait for your bank to complete the reversal. Refer to the bank account statement to verify if your transaction has been reversed.
What to do if the merchant transaction made through Google Pay has failed but the payment was not updated?
The issue will be resolved within 3 business days (usually within hours) from the date of payment initiation. The money will be transferred  to your bank account during this period. Check your bank statement to verify the same.
Why am I unable to do any transaction in Google Pay?
  1. If you’re on WiFi, turn on mobile data, or a different internet connection.
  2. Send a smaller amount of money.
  3. Use a different method. For example, if you are using the recent contacts icon on the home screen to send money, try sending the money by tapping “New” and entering phone number or UPI ID.
  4. Check if the recipient has linked their Bank Account to Google Pay.
  5. Check if you’ve reached your transaction limit
How to add a bank account in Google Pay?
  1. Check to make sure that your bank works with UPI. If it doesn’t, your bank account won’t work with Google Pay.
  2. Open Google Pay.
  3. In the top left, tap your photo and then Bank account.
  4. Tap Add bank account.
  5. Choose your bank from the list. If you don’t see your bank, it doesn’t work with Google Pay yet.
  6. If you have an existing UPI PIN, you'll be asked to enter it.
    • If you don’t remember your PIN, tap Forgot PIN and follow the instructions.
    • If you don't have a UPI PIN, enter your debit card information.
How to send money through Google Pay?
  1. Open Google Pay.
  2. From the bottom of the screen, tap "New Payment"
  3. Search for the person or contact you want to send money.
  4. Once you select the person or contact are provided, in next screen, enter the amount.
    • Make sure you enter the correct details. Once you send the money, the transaction can’t be cancelled.  
  5. Tap Pay.
  6. Enter the amount and description and select the form of payment.
  7. Tap Proceed to pay.
  8. Enter your UPI PIN.
How to request money through Google Pay?
  1. Open Google Pay.
  2. From the bottom of the screen, swipe up.
  3. Tap the photo of the contact for which you require payment.
    • You can also search for their name, phone number, account number or UPI ID.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap Request.
  5. Enter the amount and description.
  6. Tap Request.
What do I do if I am unable to carry out a transaction with my credit card on Google Pay?
  • Check if your card is added on Google Pay. 
  • Ensure that your phone’s NFC connection is turned on, if you are paying at a NFC terminal.
  • Close the Google Pay app and restart it to try the payment again.
How to book a train ticket using Google Pay?
  1. Open the Google Pay app.
  2. In the Business section, tap the Trains chat head. 
  3. Tap New ticket.
  4. Search for trains by origin, destination and date of travel. A list of available trains will be displayed.
  5. Find an available class of travel that you’d like, then tap Select. 
  6. Confirm that the stations are correct, then tap OK.
  7. Enter your IRCTC user ID. If you don’t have an IRCTC account, tap on Create account. 
  8. Enter your passenger and contact information. If you plan to travel with other people or infants (children aged 5 and below), enter their information too.
  9. Tap Continue.
  10. Confirm your booking information, including the fare breakdown.
    • If the information is correct, tap Continue.
    • If the information is incorrect, tap Edit trip. Update your information, then continue to the next step.
  11. Select a payment method, then tap Proceed to pay.
  12. Enter your UPI PIN. After your PIN is confirmed, you’re taken to the IRCTC website.
  13. Enter your IRCTC password and the CAPTCHA.
  14. Tap Submit. A confirmation screen appears
