Top Trending For 2022

The management of remote privileged access and secrets has received a lot of attention in the last year. Several smaller suppliers currently offer more capable and affordable PAM solutions than large, well-established PAM providers. Because PAM is an established business, SRM leaders should broaden their search for viable products.

Definition/Description of the Market (PAM)

Privileged access management (PAM) is a core security technique for protecting accounts, credentials, and processes with elevated ("privileged") access levels. Privileged access differs from "regular" access in that it can be used for security or maintenance duties, system or application-wide configuration modifications, or evading established security constraints via superuser access. PAM tools manage privileged access for people who administer or configure systems and applications, as well as machines (systems or applications) for internal or machine-to-machine communication.

PAM's primary capabilities include:
> Privileged account discovery across different systems, infrastructure, and applications
> Managing privileged account credentials
> Access to privileged accounts is delegated.
> For interactive privileged access, session creation, management, monitoring, and recording are required.
> Commands are elevated in a controlled manner.

PAM has the following optional features:
> Application, service, and device secrets management
> Automating privileged tasks (PTA)
> Workforce and external users have remote privileged access.
